Crack addiction when abuse for a long time can cause serious problem in the structure and functions of the brain and body. It can further lead to various psychological problems such as depression, psychosis and anxiety disorders.

Long-term effects of crack addiction include: brain functional and structural deformities; movement disorders; compromised dopamine production; brain aneurysm; and strokes, seizures and irreversible brain damage.

 
 
  • Depression
It was found that people with depression are three times more likely to abuse substances such as crack.  Crack abuse can worsen depression, leading to suicide attempts; psychiatric hospitalization; intentional or accidental overdose; and other substance abuse.
